Boots Essentials Rose lip balm
Rating 5 out of 5
This lip tints and moisturises your lips. My lips are very
prone to chapping and drying in the winter and this is a life saver. I only
need to use it twice a day – morning and before I sleep and my lips stay moisturised
without feeling “sticky”. Highly recommend it.
Toni & Guy Dry Shampoo
Rating 4 out of 5
This is a perfect solution for those of us who want to avoid
washing our hair daily – certainly I find that very damaging and drying to my
hair. This product refreshes your hair and smells amazing. It is very easy to
use as well:
1. Lift your hair and spray in 2-3 random areas (especially
any oily areas)
2. Massage it in
3. Brush & go

Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick "Rapture" and Naked Ultra Nourishing Lipgloss "Beso"
I was at the Urban Decay store in Covent Garden today and went in to buy some lipstick. I ended up with two great products - lipstick and lip gloss:
1. Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick "Rapture" £15 [Rating 4 out of 5]
Both the colour and consistency of this lipstick are amazing. It is not as dark as it looks - at least for tanned skin like mine but may be a tad dark on lighter skin colour. It is a very flattering colour. The texture is more of a lip balm than a lipstick so makes your lips feel really luscious and best of all it lasts long without drying your lips. It is definitely a winter colour with a lot of warmth in it. I tried a few other colours but "Rapture" definitely rated highest. Also the sales girl gets full marks for being very helpful! She really knows her products!
2. Naked Ultra Nourishing Lipgloss "Beso" £14 [Rating 5 out of 5]
I actually was just trying this lip gloss to see how it would look over my new lipstick but absolutely fell in love with it. It sis a warm pink and nude at the same time! Just gives you the right colour to get the perfect lips. It’s also hydrating and can be easily applied on its own on a make-up light day. It’s “Naked” because it only gives you a hint of colour without overtly colouring your lips and when applied over the rapture lipstick enhances its colour (see my photos). Highly recommended

Malika Nail Bar in Westfield
RATING: 1 OUT OF 5
Good service, bad nail treatment
Malika Nail Bar is in Westfield so I thought I will get my nails just shaped and polished
They take walk-ins so that was really good but here is a sum up of my experience:
1. She shaped my nail well but started to put the polish without actually cleaning the debris of filed nails! I had to point that out to her so then she cleaned it!
2. Once she had put the polish, I had little black dots from the polish all over my hands, which again I had to point out for her to clean
3. Then she told me they do not have any nail dryers there and I had to dry my polish under a lamp - not very effective for regular polish, I thought
4. At least she gave me a free nail polish before I left!
The girls were very polite but not very competent so 1 out of 5 for service. Definitely would never visit again.

Alexander Wang The Rockie cross-body bag
Final item-Alexander Wang Rockie cross-body bag. So I
went to check out whether the bag is available in Matches at Richmond They
didn't have it but the helpful salesgirl will bring it in for me to look at
tomorrow I am becoming a fan if this trendy designer - very rock chic looking
bag!
ILLUSION D’OMBRE DE CHANEL
So next step on my shopping trip was to check out fan
brushes at Chanel in House of Fraser, Richmond
Unfortunately they had run out
but the Chanel salesgirl showed me this wonderful eyeshadow from Chanel's
Christmas range.
It's like a nude gloss for your eyes which gives you a great neutral
look for daywear while adding a glow to your eyes and can make the perfect
finishing touch for an evening glam look
Absolutely loved it and highly
recommend it
Also - very good salesgirl!
Bobbi Brown Make-up brushes
So I went today to House of Fraser in Richmond to buy a fan brush from Bobbi Brown. They didn't have any fan brushes but I managed to find a bronzer brush and a foundation brush that I liked.
So next step, find a sales girl who is willing to show me how best to use these etc etc. So I found one who, ummm, to put it politely looked like she has never used a brush in her life. Awful skin and terrible make up. To top it all, she made no attempt to sell it to me. What's happened to good sales staff??
I loved the brushes but the the sales girl and her make up put me off :-(

Bloomsbury by Burberry
I recently went in Burberry store to look at the new Bloomsbury bag - well it was being sold to me as a "hold-all" very convenient and perfect for the working woman
But guess what guys? Its heavy when empty, it's difficult to carry with that handle which can really hurt your wrists and carrying it with the strap resulted in pain shooting through my shoulder because it's a bulky bag
To top it all off, it's not very pretty and somewhat reminiscent of YSL's Muse bag - except that the Muse bag had a better handle and was not as bulky as the Bloomsbury
Very disappointed

Science and fashion
I found this innovative website which led me to think about
women in science and their attiti=ude towards fashion:
It’s a quirky website, featuring designs inspired by science
– like conveying complexity of neural networks in a dress! However, what
about fashion inspiring women of science? Generally, as a rule, I get this
impression that most people think if you are a scientist you are not likely to
be fashionable. I don’t think agree with this, especially among Arab women, and
I know my colleagues from the Middle East will concur with me.
In fact, many women of science are very stylish and indeed
have contributed their scientific knowledge towards fashion items –

On that note, Arab women of science – please send your
photos to me is stylish outfits so we can claim that women scientists are every
bit as stylish as any fashioista and on that note, here is a little outfit for
future congresses:
Dress & jacket from Chanel (vintage); Bag from Balenciaga & Shoes from Valentino (vintage)
