Ham House is 17th Century house in Greater London with stunning landscaped gardens and lovely Orangery Cafe.

Ham House is a National Trust property only 10 minutes away from Richmond.
We had to cover the place in two trips as the main house was closed the first time (so I get to blog about two outfits - yay!). So, the property consists of a main house and the stunning gardens, which are perfect for toddlers to run around in!

Make sure the main house is open when you visit. The collection of paintings and textiles is definitely worth a look.

There is a "green room" on the first floor.. It is a tiny room but is truly marvellous. The collection of art and paintings are stunning. I was particularly captivated by a painting of Salome being presented with the head of John The Baptist - simply beautiful painting (though a very grim subject).

The main hall upstairs and the library are also lovely rooms to visit and baby was particularly fascinated by the Globe in the Library!

Outside, there is lots to see in the gardens.

Firstly, there is the kitchen garden with numerous herbs and 17th century plants, which have existed since at least 1653. Today it provides the Orangery café with produce - how amazing is that? The café menu is a bit disappointing so that is probably the only thing that I think they should improve on.

The gardens and terrace behind the house are stunning and you can bring your picnic there and just sit and chill! Perfect for summer weather.

Note that the house is closed during the winter months, and there are guided tours of selected rooms in February and March, before it opens between April and October. For complete opening times, click here.
